SQUAT
The full-range squat is arguably the MOST IMPORTANT movement to learn and master for the sake of longevity. Being able to get up and down off the ground repeatedly, as well as being capable of walking around and navigating through this world freely, is a fundamental skill you definitely do not ever want to lose. The moment you start losing this essential ability, you accelerate the decline of your overall lifespan at a concerning rate. We are all born with the incredible ability to perform a full-range squat from the time we are young babies first learning to stand and walk. However, in the modern world, we begin losing this important ability once we start sitting for prolonged periods of 8+ hours a day, a habit that unfortunately begins at a very early age, often right when we first start going to school. As time goes on, we rapidly lose this vital skill, leading to increased stiffness and decreased mobility. Alarmingly, even young children, teenagers, and young adults who do not engage in athletics often struggle to perform a full-range squat effectively. For most people, this mobility issue does not become a significant concern until they reach an age where they can no longer get down on the ground without the risk of falling. At that point, it transforms into a serious problem. DO NOT wait until that critical moment to re-acquire this fundamental skill; being able to move freely and effectively throughout your life is truly invaluable. This movement, along with its various adaptations, should be practiced and trained at least twice a week for the entirety of your life.
